Why Olive Oil Fraud Matters
Olive oil is one of the most commonly misrepresented food products in the world. The term "extra virgin" appears on bottles that don't meet the international quality standards. Freshness—which directly impacts health benefits—is rarely disclosed. Origin claims can be misleading or incomplete.
Most consumers have never tasted real, fresh extra virgin olive oil. What passes for premium in supermarkets is often rancid, diluted, or mislabeled. Studies by the Olive Oil Times and UC Davis have documented widespread fraud in the industry.
Our goal is to change that by providing clear, independent information about which olive oils meet the standards they claim. See our 15 verified extra virgin olive oils.
Our Review Philosophy
No paid placements. Inclusion is based solely on quality and transparency.
No private-label products. We evaluate established producers with verifiable track records.
No ranking by popularity. Evidence and freshness determine our evaluations.
Transparency first. If an oil doesn't disclose harvest dates or origin details, it doesn't qualify.
